Big Wild Ride

We are often asked about the Big Wild Ride.  We understand the excitement of riding in Alaska, the adventurous nature of taking on an epic 1200 kilometer ride that is sure to include wide roadways and low traffic, plenty of glaciers, loads of wildlife, and (perhaps) a spot or two of light rain, all the while surrounded by mountainous vistas as far as the eye can see.

The various segments of the Big Wild Ride are truly amazing and breathtaking.

There are currently no plans to revive the Big Wild Ride.  It is possible the Big Wild Ride will return at some future time -- or not.

One thing we know for sure is that the Big Wild Ride continues on.  Because of all the feedback about the ride we have decided to make it available as a permanent route, rideable from May to September of any given year.  Obviously, the permanent will lack the red carpet treatment of pre-arranged lodging and meals, and there won't be a group of fellow randonneurs to share your adventure with in real-time.

On the flip side, because it is a permanent you will have access to more generous control closing times from the first mile you are on the course.  This should make for a (slightly) more leisurely ride, almost a tour; still, make no mistake, you will need to bring your A-game to complete this ride within 90 hours.

All of your Big Wild Ride permanent route information can be found here:

In the meantime, if we decide at some future point to put this ride on again we will be sure to let everyone know.
